Home: a real preview of each board, deck, form and doc, and one search across all of them.
Board
A whiteboard for workshops: sticky notes, pens and shapes, and timed rounds where everyone writes alone first, then reveals together.
The clock runs on our server, so a round moves on even if the organiser’s laptop sleeps.
Anonymous notes carry no author, permanently.

Ask the parents’ group to run a stall
A quiet room for exam weeks
A silent round: until the bell, others see only blurred boxes, never your words. Then every note appears at once, and the vote begins.
Docs
A word processor with Word’s ribbon and shortcuts. It opens Word files and PDFs and saves .docx, with track changes, footnotes and equations.
A PDF opens at its exact layout; Edit is one click.
AI rewrites show word by word before anything changes, and go only to the model you chose.

Sheets
A spreadsheet that opens Excel files as they are, with the formulas, charts and shortcuts you know. Use it in your browser with no account, or get the 7 MB Mac app.
On the web, your workbooks stay in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
Opens and saves .xlsx. Older .xls files aren’t supported yet.
An Excel file opened in the browser: the figures fill in and the total adds up, with nothing sent to a server.
Slides
Decks with layouts, tables, charts and speaker notes, edited together in real time and presented with a presenter view.
Opens and saves .pptx, and exports PDF.
Turn a board’s frames into slides, one per frame.

Fast, measured
Less to download means less to wait for, on a train, on a school laptop or on a phone with one bar. These are our own measurements, with how we made them at the end of the page.m
The big suites do more, and their apps hold more. If you don’t need that, you don’t have to download it, store it or wait for it. Stetley Sheets is a 7.1 MB download; the Mac App Store lists Excel at 1.2 GB.4
Where we sit
Stetley is for small teams, schools and charities who want the basics done well and quickly, without handing over their work. If you need a whole enterprise platform, the big suites do more. Prices are each provider’s US list price per person per month on an annual plan, checked on 1 November 2026; the small raised numbers link to the sources.
How Stetley compares with other office suites and workspaces
No Windows or Linux apps: use the browser there. On the Mac, only Sheets is ready to download so far.
Mail on the web is for Gmail only, and Google sign-in isn’t switched on yet.
No chat or video calls, and no compliance certifications yet.
A small team. If you need a vendor with a 24-hour support desk, we’re not it yet.
Pricing Proposed
Not final yet. The plan: every app free, on the web and the Mac, whichever plan you’re on. A paid plan adds room, team features and AI, for people who need them.

Privacy, in brief
No ads, and nothing from anyone else, with one exception below. No analytics services or trackers, on this page or in the apps. What we count, we count on our own server, as set out below.
A bot check, only when you’re signed out and send something to our server. When you ask for a sign-in code, answer a public form or join a board as a guest in your browser, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you’re a person, not a bot: the page loads Cloudflare’s script for that moment only, and Cloudflare sees what its check needs from your browser (such as your IP address and browser details), under its Turnstile privacy addendum. We send Cloudflare nothing about you: our server passes on only the check’s token, to confirm it. The Mac apps never load it. Work you do signed out that stays in your browser is never checked. Requests from known bots are also left out of the counts below.
Your email is for signing in, and for nothing else. Sign-in emails always come from stetley.com.
Some apps never send us your work. Sheets on the web keeps workbooks in your browser until you sign in. Mail on the web goes from Google straight to your browser; no mail, password or token reaches our servers.
Anonymous means no name. Notes and votes in an anonymous session, and answers to an anonymous form, carry no name and aren’t stored against your account. Nothing in Stetley shows who wrote or chose them.
AI goes where you send it. Your device, your computer or your own key. Board’s AI is locked while people write alone, never votes, and sees only that board.
What we count, on our own server. To see whether Stetley is working and growing, we keep totals: sign-ups and how many accounts were active each day (from sign-ins and the items you open from Home or Open, which our server already records), how many boards, decks, forms and docs are made, which file types are imported, how many boards had two people on at once, how fast pages load and our server answers, and whether we meet our service targets (how many answers fail, how many board and deck connections succeed, how many edits our server confirms within a second, and how many sign-in emails our mail provider accepts). They are kept as counts per hour or day for 90 days, with no name, email, address or document attached. That isn’t anonymity: our server knows who signed up and what they opened, as any server that signs you in does. These totals simply don’t add to it.
Which features you use, per account. To decide what to improve, each app tells our server which of its features you used, as names and counts per day (for example “Sheets: sort, 3”), never what you wrote, titles, file names or addresses. Mail sends feature names only; your mail never reaches us. Stetley Notes on the Mac and iPhone sends these counts only while you’re signed in to Stetley sync (for example “Notes: search, 4”, or how many times it refused an out-of-date copy from our server), never a note, a title or what you searched for. These counts are kept with your account for 180 days, and as totals with no account for two years. We use them to see which features are used, and to offer new options first to groups such as people who use an app a lot. You can turn this off in Profile (“Help improve Stetley with usage counts”): nothing more is sent, and what we kept for your account is deleted at once. Profile also downloads a copy of what we keep.
How Stetley spreads, and what it costs to run. We note who invited you, to measure how Stetley spreads: if you joined through someone’s board, deck, form, doc or project, or they added your email before you had an account, our server keeps which account it was with yours. We also count per day, for your account, how many requests your apps make to our server, the emails we send you, saves of your documents to storage, the invites you make, the people who join through you and the sessions you run with others: numbers only, kept 180 days. From these our team works out roughly what each account costs to run and how people bring others in. The same Profile switch (“Help improve Stetley with usage counts”) covers all of this: off, none of it is kept and what we had, who invited you included, is deleted at once. Profile’s download includes it.
The occasional question. Now and then an app asks how likely you are to recommend it, at most every 90 days and never in your first week. Your score and any comment you choose to write are kept without your name or account; comments for 180 days, scores for two years. Our server notes when it last asked you, so it doesn’t ask again too soon. “Don’t ask again” means exactly that.
Stetley Notes sync is end-to-end encrypted. Our server can’t read your notes. It does see, and our team can see, what it needs to sync them: how many encrypted records and files your library has and how large they are, how many devices you have, when your library last synced, and how many devices were approved or removed. Never a title, a word or a file name.
Plans and storage. Our team can see each account’s plan, how much storage it uses, how many items it opened recently, its feature counts, its estimated running cost and who it brought in, to run the service and decide what to build. Never the content of your work.
New features may reach some accounts first. Which ones is worked out from your account’s ID, so it stays the same each visit. Nothing is recorded about it.
One trade-off we chose, stated plainly: Home keeps the exact time you last opened each item, to sort your Recent list. Someone with access to our database could line those times up with activity on an anonymous board or form.
Questions
Do I have to install anything?
No. Every app runs in a modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux or a Chromebook. The Mac apps are there if you prefer them; Sheets’ is ready now and the rest are on their way.
Will my Word and Excel files survive?
Docs opens Word files and PDFs and saves .docx, including tracked changes, comments, footnotes and equations. Sheets opens and saves .xlsx as it is; older .xls files aren’t supported yet. Some things don’t carry over yet: in Docs, formatting a file inherits from Word’s styles, floating images and live fields.
Why is it so small?
We leave things out. The Mac apps use the system’s own web view instead of carrying a browser inside each one, the pages load only what they need, and we measure every release.
Do I need an AI subscription?
No. Every app works without AI. If you want it, Docs can use Apple Intelligence on your Mac, Ollama on your computer, a small model in your browser, or any provider with your own key. Board and project drafts use your own key, with a daily spending cap you set.
Does Stetley train AI on my work?
No. We don’t run a model of our own, and we don’t send your work anywhere you didn’t choose.
Can I use it offline?
Docs and Sheets keep working without a connection. Boards and decks keep a copy on your device and sync when you’re back.
Why “Stetley”?
Stet is the mark a proofreader writes in the margin to cancel an edit: Latin for “let it stand”. That’s the promise: your work stays yours and stays put, without features you didn’t ask for. You may meet Ellis, a retired sub-editor who keeps a desk here; he turns up on empty pages and lost connections, never in your work, and one switch turns him off.
Where did Stetley Docs go?
It moved to stetley.com/docs. Old links still work: they forward there.
Who is behind it?
A small, independent team. Stetley is built and paid for by its users, not by advertising.

m Stetley’s own measurements, 1 November 2026, on an Apple M4 Pro Mac with macOS 15.6. Loading: each page’s production build served by a local copy of our server, opened in Chromium with nothing cached, on a simulated slow mobile connection (1.6 Mbit/s down, 750 kbit/s up, 150 ms round trip) with the processor slowed four times, to stand in for an older computer; median of five runs. “Download” is the compressed bytes transferred, fonts included; “ready to use” is from the request until the board, Home’s desk, the Sheets grid or this page’s heading is on screen. Mail on the web was weighed the same way but not timed, as it can’t sign in yet. Space on your Mac: each app as installed in /Applications, measured with du: Stetley Home, Slides and Forms 3.5 MB each, Docs 6.6 MB, Sheets 18.6 MB; Microsoft Word 16.114 2.9 GB, Excel 2.7 GB, PowerPoint 2.4 GB; Pages, Numbers and Keynote 14.4; LibreOffice 26.2.
